Produce, pump and pack.
Which one is better? Storing your EBM in bottles or in storage bags?
I would say,
Both are good and serves different purposes.
"Do i need to buy a lot of mini bottles or should i buy a lot of storage bags? I'm confused"
Based on my experience, it is easier to handle storage bags than mini bottles.
But you also need to buy a few, i would say 4 is more than enough.
Here's why.
Mini bottles: (for pumping and short term use)
1) Ready-to-drink milk
I kept my EBM in the mini bottles if i planned to use it later today.
Let's say i need a 'me time', outing with friends around 1-2 hours at noon, i will pump and keep it chill in the freezer. Hubby just needs to heat it up, dip in a warm water for 5-10 minutes before give it to baby boo. Easy peasy.
2) Wash and steril
A-ha! Just imagine you need to wash 8 mini bottles per day, and sterilised that. Time consuming right? And mommy, i bet we have better things to do rather than spending precious time by that sink alone haha.
3) Space consuming
I would rather bring 1 bottle (to be attached to the pump) and store my EBM in a plastic bag rather than bringing 4 bottles in my bag.
4) Labelling
You may need stickers to label the date of your production.
Plastic storage bag: (for long term storage)
1) Plastics storage bag is easier to keep.
I put the storage bag inside a food container like this. I hate to see uneven cuts if i just tore the plastics for the opening, so i keep a scissor as well so that i can get a nice cut (no more eyesore yay!)
2) Easy to write on.
Buy a sharpie pen and i can just write on name, date and time. No sticker needed. Wasting money.
3) No need to wash.
Plastic storage bag is a one-time use, or you can reuse it to store fruits or vegetables. Solution for a busy mom. Just tear and throw if you don't plan to reuse it later. Case closed, no need to wash, or sterile.
